The ‘Resurgence’ sterling silver teapot is made by hammer forming the initial shape from flat sheet silver using hammering techniques that have been in use for millennia. The handle is formed as two spicule (tapered tube) that are then formed into a curved shape through repetitive heating and hammering.
.
‘Resurgence’ Teapot is inspired by plant life, and the incredible power of nature to prevail and regenerate, to regrow, sometimes bursting through concrete and reclaiming the land. The handle is the dominant feature of this piece, particularly honouring the manner in which plants curl around themselves and grow together as a self supporting twisting structures. Examples of this can be seen in ivy vines, wisteria trees and wild honeysuckle winding around hazel.
