‘Isis’ is the largest item of domestic sculpture that I have produced to date. It is a significant piece of silverware, hammer formed from a single sheet of metal. The Sheer size and weight of the metal created technical difficulties of its own.

.

The artwork has voluptuous curves and lines that illustrate the female form and the abundance and fertility of the ancient Goddess ‘Isis’. Created form life drawings and studies, and inspired by the photography of Imogen Cunningham and Edward Weston; and the paintings of Jenny Saville, Georgia O’Keeffe and Klimt.

.

‘Isis is among the oldest of Goddesses, the Mother and giver of all life. A moon Goddess, she gives birth to the sun, creates and sustains all life and is the saviour of all people…. Isis is the universal goddess, representing total femininity…..A wonderful image of the goddess’s ability to give and to restore life, she underscores the depth of emotion that even a goddess must feel’ The Goddess Paintings by Susan Seddon Boulet & Michael Babcock

.

‘Isis’ was awarded the Bavarian State Prize in 2015, in Munich.
