Gort Ivy Silver Beakers. Handmade silver ivy beakers with gold interior.

‘Gort’ Ivy Beaker. Abigail Brown

I would like to announce a new project that I will be undertaking beginning in 2022. I will begin creating a series of beakers that represent the Celtic Tree Calendar and the Ogham alphabet. I am looking forward to drawing and studying indigenous tree and plant species of the British Isles to form the designs for each drinking vessel. Please get in contact if you would like to discuss commissioning one of the beakers, please GET IN TOUCH

Following on from my ‘Gort’ or Ivy Beaker and my love for indigenous plants, I wanted to work on a project to create a series based on these themes. The Ogham alphabet is believed to originate in 4th century CE and is often referred to as the Celtic Tree Alphabet. It includes Birch, Rowan, Ash, Hawthorn, Oak, Holly, Hazel, Ivy, Reed and Elder. Celtic mythology reveres many trees; some for their medicinal properties, while others had symbolic meaning.

Please email me if you would like to commission a beaker in the Celtic Tree Series. Perhaps you have a special connection to a Tree that plays a part in the story of your life. I would love for you to be part of the project as it unfolds over the next year.
